Lookie he-ah, we have an average pc game-ah in their natural habitat. In the dark depths of their bead-room. Look closely and you’ll see what they-ah playing. Looks like they-ah playing Minecraft. Let’s get their opinion on this spe-sea-fic game. I will now leave this to the average pc game-ah.
Hello! I know I know quite a cheesy intro. The intro is much better when you read it in Steve Irwin’s voice I swear. Anywho, I’ll be talking about one of my personal favorite games. The game is Minecraft! I know what you may be thinking. This game is for children all you do is build things. That isn’t completely true! I mean… well… a large amount of the player base is children… but then there’s the rest of us! Minecraft was actually one of the first legit pc games I started to play. I haven't stopped playing it since...
Let me get into the basics of the game. Minecraft is a sandbox game meaning that there really aren’t any limitations to what you can do within the game. There is a single player option and multiplayer option. Don’t let me forget about Minecraft Realms. I’ll get into that a bit later. There are so many other things you can do as well, but we'll save that for a later post.
Let’s start off with singleplayer! Now, singleplayer is pretty great if you’re just starting off. You can practice controls and just get a feel for the game itself. You can play in creative, survival or hardcore when it comes to singleplayer. Honestly, singleplayer is hard, man. Anything beyond creative is just a death sentence. Surviving the night when you start off with nothing is scary. The best way to go about that is just to hide in a hole till morning. The monsters at night show no mercy whatsoever. DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ABOUT MONSTERS IN CAVES. Now, the “main” point of the game in singleplayer, if you're playing anything other than creative, is to defeat the enderdragon. You can take your time and gather materials and prepare yourself for the most epic fight of all time. To gather materials you can go and mine, kill animals, make your own farms and so much more. You can even go to hell and back. There’s just so many things you are able to do. Once you gather everything you think you’ll need you can make your way to fight the enderdragon. Your fight against the enderdragon will be the most intense fight you will ever encounter in singleplayer. It is the most exciting and you will feel very accomplished. In reality, you break a few beacons and shoot at the enderdragon with a bow... you’ll probably die a few times before actually killing the dude. Let's just not bother with that, okay? okay. Personally, singleplayer isn’t my thing. I’m not all that great at building so there goes singleplayer creative. And I just generally don’t like playing games alone. I like to interact with other people to make my personal gameplay better.
Here’s the fun part. MULTIPLAYER! There are so many different servers you can access via the multiplayer option. You can simply just google Minecraft servers and it will give you an IP. The IP is the address you will need to access the server. Once you insert that, when you go to add a server you’ll be able to play. These multiplayer servers can contain just about anything. Some popular options for these large multiplayer servers include minigames, multiplayer survival, factions, creative, and SkyBlock. HUB servers are quite popular as well. Servers like that have just about any game you could think of. These are only very few types of server options. It gets even better! Within servers that have minigames there are, even more, game options. WOOO! Popular games within minigame servers include SkyWars and Survival Games. These games are sort of universal games among all servers, but depending on the server of your choosing the games can vary. My favorite types of games are any sort of game that involves PvP. PvP stands for player vs player. Pretty much in most games, you are competing against other players usually fighting wise. This aspect to Minecraft is my absolute favorite. Honestly, I’m quite competitive when it comes to PvP games. It feels good to win. If you’re a competitive person, games such as Survival Games and SkyWars are definitely for you. One of the really great things about the multiplayer portion of Minecraft is that you get to interact with so many different people from around the world. It’s crazy how a single game is able to connect so many different people. I could go rambling on about multiplayer servers and such, but I'll stop there. We can save the rambling for another time. Let me move on to Realms.
Alrighty, so, realms are quite simple. Let’s take that concept of a multiplayer server and make it a bit more private. That pretty much makes up the realms portion of Minecraft. However, to actually have your own realm you would need to buy a subscription to a realm off of the Minecraft official website. Realms are quite cool. You can play on realms with small groups of friends which is pretty fun. However, I'd say a large downfall to realms is that there’s a very small player limit. You can only have a few players on the realm at the same time. While the multiplayer servers usually have larger player bases so the number of players able to be on at once are a lot higher. Nonetheless, realms are pretty darn cool if you’re into having more of a private sort of server just for friends. However, it is not free.
It’s insane how much just one game can contain. There are so much more aspects of the game and it’s definitely a lot better when you get to play it yourself rather than y’know… just reading this… If you haven’t already I definitely suggest getting the game and trying it out. If you try one thing and don’t like it there’s so much more to the game you would definitely find something else you would like. Minecraft is truly a great game for all ages. No matter how old you are or young Minecraft is a game for just about anyone.
Here's a gameplay video of myself playing Skywars. One of the many popular multiplayer games.
OMG too funny! Is that first paragraph written with an Australian accent!?! Soooo Funny! I think your description of the game is both fun and creepy. I'd try single player to get started, but how do I know where to hide? If I learn to build can I hid in something that I build?
ReplyDeleteYes, yes it was. You can't go wrong with an Australian accent. Now, hiding wise you can hide just about anywhere. You can hide in a tree.. a house you build... a hole.. or a cave. Although if you plan on hiding in a cave you'd be living on the edge. Caves are full of danger! Of course you can hide in whatever you build. It really depends on what you build if you make it so you can hide in it.
DeleteAhhhhh! I love this so much. The Australian accent was the most funniest thing ever.... I might or might not have been dying of laughter through most of and my mom might or might not have looked at me like I was crazy. I really wish I had minecraft. Can't wait to read more blogs! XD
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I was dying of laughter just writing that part. And don't worry! There will be more blogs coming. (:
DeleteThis was great, as much as I don't like Minecraft I can definitely understand why you play it and why you would think it's fun
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, the only reason I had gotten into Minecraft PC was because of my cousins and Minecraft PE. We used to play that all the time together and when I got Minecraft PC it was just something I really enjoyed playing. With the different PvP communities i started to fit in to and all the people I later on met and became quite great friends with. I really started to enjoy the game more and more. I do have to say if it weren't for my online friends and everything I take part in Minecraft wise, I wouldn't have a reason to constantly play the game.
DeleteYour blog was really hilarious, I loved how you wrote about Minecraft and the intro hooked me into the rest of the piece. Great work, and I look forwards to seeing more :D
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked it :D I was hoping the intro would really be a great hook for the rest of the post. Writing the intro to begin with was quite entertaining. There will definitely be more where that came from!
DeleteCrikey! First of all that intro was AMAZING! Honestly the Australian accent was a good way to show that you have a very humorous side through writing. I thought that it was very specific which is helpful but maybe you could put the extra important/ key words in a different color font. That way the main points will really stand out. I also really liked that you included a video of yourself playing just in case some people are visual learners. Overall I LOVED IT!!!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, the intro is my favorite part of this post. And I will definitely experiment with fonts and different colors. I do agree that it would help things stand out quite a bit. It would also really make things a bit more organized. Overall, I'm glad you loved it. :)
